The beating heart of employee welfare

QSUK loves anything to do with health and safety and staff wellbeing, and since a member of our team has the occasional, fairly scary fibrillation of the heart to the point that she ends up in hospital, we decided to invest in an automated external defibrillator (AED), more commonly known as a ‘defib’, to give her the best chance of survival should the next episode be more extreme. We’ve mounted the defib on a wall outside our office and informed our neighbours so that they can use it if needed, and we’re offering training to support that.

Most employers recognise they have a ‘duty of care’ for their staff, and providing a defib where you have a group of people regularly working together, demonstrates just that extra degree of care.
